To the visitor,
Your arrival to this webpage is probably in reference to something related to Japanese or American literature, both of which are present on this site. However, you may also have noticed that some of the work seems to have been done by... not quite professionals, shall we say? The point being that this page was created as a school project by three lowly high school students who completed it willingly, but perhaps not to their full potential.
I am one of the authors and translators for Natsume Soseki's First Night, and a proud author of one of the comparison essays in the drop down menu. After two long years, I have returned to this website, and in hopes to revamp the materials on this page to be of more use to anyone who wishes to use this information in a more academic sense. With coming updates, you may see a brand new translation appear suddenly on this page. For those college and high school students struggling to finish their homework and who have visited this site to look for ideas on Japanese literature vs American literature, you may not care here in about four and a half hours (or whenever your report is due), and I suppose I should consider myself a fool for thinking anyone is going to care about updates to an admittedly... rather stale topic, but no matter. This has become a personal investment for me.
Whatever your reason for being here, I hope you enjoy yourself. And please, don't judge us to harshly for the less-than-adequate essays comparing these two truly iconic authors.
-Steve
